We are back, but not as you have seen us before...
Our shellfish processing unit ‘Cornish Native Oysters’ has been at Mylor Yacht Harbour since September 2009 and we did our 1st pop up ‘Oyster Wink’ at The Front Fal a month later. Then we hosted the 1st ‘Oyster Gathering’ at Mylor in March 2010, so to celebrate a 10th anniversary ‘Ostraca’ has popped up next door sell all sorts of shellfish and to provide shellfish snacks, including hand picked Crab, which you can take home or enjoy aboard... bring the kids and we will show you around!

A HIDDEN PEARL AT CARLYON BEACH - July 2016
For those that haven’t heard yet, Carlyon Beach St. Austell (the old site of the Cornwall Coliseum) is reopen to the public and has been totally transformed into long sandy beach with a pop up food and drink area
Amongst the dunes is a real pearl, one of Cornwall’s regulars on the street food circuit ‘Ostraca’ - a 20ft shipping container converted in to a mini restaurant seating 4 inside (perfect for those summer showers), 12 on the front terrace overlooking the bay towards Charlestown and Mevagissey and can also serve many more on the beach banquet tables from the take away menu
Whilst the car park is charging £2 per day, Ostraca are offering to refund your parking when you spend £25 or more and if you prefer to walk and enjoy the coast then maybe a free cup of tea with any hot meal will warm the cockles when you pop up
A new menu is available through the summer, with a little more focus on kids so we have ‘crab claws’, ‘fish fingers’ and ‘steak soldiers’ as well as local apple juice and homemade lemonade
With a full Cornish bar, fresh seafood and local steaks served daily 10-late it’s a great place to escape, but if the weather is unsettled it is a good idea to reserve the indoor seating and give the chef an idea of your favourite shellfish so he can have it landed especially to order
Finally, if you are heading to Carlyon Beach for any of the theatre events this summer then you can call and reserve a bespoke ‘Ostraca Beach Hamper’ that will be available for your collection prior to the show
Our own unique pop up restaurant @OstracaCornwall has already been seen at several stunning locations (see photos below) and we have hosted @PopUpFineDining for many intimate parties... we can also do weddings, events and @PopUpGatherings if you would like to book us for a meal or privately hire us, please call on 07807 290315

Ostraca - Cornish Shellfish Box - Opened 28th March 2014 - www.ostraca.co.uk - @OstracaShellfish
Ostraca - from Greek dictionary Ostracon meaning oyster shell, ostraca is a vote scribed on an object that resembles an oyster shell, which is cast into a box and the loser (or winner - it's a lotto!) is the first out or one with the most votes...
Ostraca is just a 'fabrication' of my imagination in 2009 when I purchased a 40ft shipping container to set up Cornish Native Oysters. That 40ft was swapped for a 14ft so we had an approved premises for the purification of shellfish for sale live.
Now we bring you a 20ft container pop up Fal Oyster Box
We have worked with a local project management company specializing in converting shipping containers, a local distributor of them, a local company for the highest standard of non-slip decking in the UK? a local paint finisher to give it that 'we are over here' factor and even a local film company to help us archive some of the work on the fishery.
We are about to bring you the 1st dedicated Fal Oyster Bar, well it is in a shipping container so 'box'. We will be taking our box on tour whilst we look for a semi permanent pitch, for when we aren't on tour ...
Crowds needed... find us soon on CrowdFunder for information.
Thank you...
